"FATHER'S DAY HOTRODS & HARLEYS" FROM A "DIFFERENT KIND OF PERSPECTIVE"!
Jun 21, 2011: Well, it's been a while since I last wrote, but I just had to get this one out there!
Sunday's "Father's Day 5th Annual Hotrods & Harleys Event" was a HUGE SUCCESS!!! It was an incredible day with plenty to see and do! The weather was hot and sunny all day, and the crowds of admirers packed the showrooms and filled the lots all day too! South Florida's BEST hotrods and classic show cars dominated the show parking lot, along with hundreds of bikes lining the streets! BIG105.9's Doc Reno broadcast "LIVE" from the event, and classic 70's-80's rock tunes (courtesy your's truly) filled the atmosphere throughout the day. There were plenty of vendors with lots of great deals & giveaways. Precision Thunder served up cold beer and jello-shots, and Famous Frank and his team took care of everyone on the BBQ!
Peterson's Harley of N. Miami pulled out ALL the stops to offer this awesome FREE event for dads on Fathers Day! Did you happen to see the very cool and unique trophies??? Additionally, there was $400 in cash awards handed out too, all courtesy of Peterson's Harley, and Jumpin Jack Productions and his team!
Ace Armstrong, General Manager (and car guy too) and Phil Peterson (owner) are the ones who makes this all possible every year! Be sure to talk to Ace when you are ready to get a nice Harley and get out on the road. Let's do some riding folks! We ended the show a few minutes early just before the afternoon storms rolled in. Made some new friends...everyone had a great time... it was a MOST excellent day!
I am already working on the video and photos.. and of course there are already plenty of photos up on Facebook too.
Well... summer is finally here! Going to do some riding in the next few weeks, and spend time with family. This weekend, SFHR has a happening cruise to Alabama Jacks in Islamorada, leaving from Miramar this Saturday morning, open to all.

Comments: Happy Fathers Day! The Jumpin Jack show at Petersons Harley was another huge success by all. A very nice turnout of cars/trucks & bikes was special to say the least. The foot traffic and vendors made for some interesting viewing. The weather cooperated until the end of the show, and then the skies opened up. Oh well, that is what keeps us happy, washing and waxing our rides. Scott the DJ played some new stuff today, enjoyable and well thought out by him. The trophies are beautiful, "keepers" as they say. Say a prayer for our servicemen and women that would have loved to be at the show today, but are protecting us here at home and around the world. Thank You to them. May 2, 2011: I attended 2 great shows this past weekend, the Cooper City Founders Day show and the 1st Palm Springs North Cruisin' in the Park show. The staff at the Cooper City show was excellent as always, the foot traffic was heavy, the show vehicles were outstanding, Scott the DJ was awesome as usual, the food and vendors were great as well. That show was a hoot, the judges really looked into places that surprised me, but that was a good thing.
The Cruisin' in the Park show was a huge success. I never saw so many different vehicles before, where have they been hiding? Spiderman even made a showing! The event staff was insane, they were everywhere, making the show a pleasant, neat and clean show. And how about the killer awards. Jumpin Jack and crew did their usual fine job of parking and judging. Scott the DJ was on his game, the shade kept him fresh and jamming all day. One thing that we forget is how tough it is on the staff at these shows. We can duck under cover for shade and rest our feet all day if we wish to, these people cannot take that luxury. Kudos to all of them, I commend the dedication they display ever show. Maybe offer them a bottle of water or soda when they come around to judge or just check to make sure we are happy. CAR SHOWS AND EVENTS UPDATE! by: DJ Scott
Apr 14, 2011: Well... it has been a while since I last wrote... I have a little catching up to do! It has been a beautiful weather season and busy time for car shows in South Florida! Reflecting back a little, we've enjoyed some GREAT local past shows like the Margate Street Festival, Pompano Elks Benefit Show, Lefty's car show, Miami Lakes, Cars As Art Delray, Oceans 11 cruise nights, Pompano CitiCentre, Seminole Casino Hollywood, Fords Of The Decades, and SO many more! I can't make them all, but those are a few I've been involved with. Of course we just had another AWESOME show at the Festival Spring Mega Show in Pompano with well over 500+ show cars and a HUGE crowd of spectators and admirers. The Bowery Boys put on an excellent live oldies show for us too! How did my old vintage speaker stacks sound at the event covering almost a 1/4 mile of parking? Old is still good in my book.. like a BIG block motor! Sorry if it was a little loud up front if you were parked close, but hopefully it still sounded good. Covering an event that large and dealing with the laws of physics is always a challenge!
We have some great shows coming up too.. as well as some new ones. This Saturday will feature a new benefit show, the
Margate Police Children's Charities Benefit Car Show. Please come out and support this very worthy cause for the kids! It is an OPEN show too.
Friday nights at Towershoppes have been strong with the great weather.. and great crowds too. We also have our regular annual upcoming shows scheduled too... Miracle Mile, Shoppes at Beacon Light, Wheels Across the Pond in Jupiter, and Cooper City Founders Day Festival... all in the next few weeks. Palm Springs North is another new show in May, and also in May we will be going back to the Hard Rock Casino for a FREE show! ..as well as the Seminole Casino Memorial Weekend Show at the end of May which is ALSO FREE! They are in different locations, so don't get them confused.
June 4 we have an opportunity to HONOR OUR TROOPS with an INCREDIBLE NEW SHOW... the
Disabled Veterans Benefit Classic Car Show at the CitiCentre in Pompano! This show will be AWESOME! .. Not only will the event feature show cars throughout the courtyards, but will also feature vendors, food, a live auction, and numerous live bands on stage for an all day concert! The show hours have been extended to get it all in. The DAV plans to put out over 5000+ American Flags all up and down Federal Highway to honor those who sacrificed themselves for the freedoms we enjoy here in America! So be sure to mark this one down on your calendar and show your pride and support!
Of course coming in June-July there is our annual Fathers Day Harleys & Hotrods, Leftys Summer Slam, Miami Springs, and Oceans 11 Cruise Nights. Enjoy the season... and get out and enjoy our show cars!
Congratulations to Rockin Rich, and Bob & Arlyne on another "record breaking" cruise night at Tijuana Taxi with 104 cars! Tijuana Taxi is ALWAYS a "happening place" on Sunday nights in Coral Springs!
Congratulation again to the South Florida Hot Rides for an incredible first year anniversary! This is a great club and a great bunch of car guys and girls who really LOVE getting out to the shows and having fun! They are VERY supportive of the shows and benefits! Currently, they are doing a trophy drive... bring them your old trophies (no plaques) and they will recycle them to local children's organizations. Also, contrats to Jimmy Bozek the new club President, (announced at the Festival show) and Tim Lewis the new VP! Founder and former President John Sheppard did an incredible job with the club in it's infancy bringing it to one of South Florida's largest and most active clubs... and will remain very active behind the scenes as the club moves forward. I have been getting emails asking about photos! I am trying desperately to find the ability and time to balance my full time work life, car show life, and personal life. Preparing photos for the web takes a lot of my "spare" time.. and videos now take even more! Unfortunately, photos have to be selected, cropped, processed, and uploaded to linked webpages... and videos have to be edited "in real time" as well as processed, compressed, and uploaded into web-playable formats. I'm just a little too picky to just put anything out there.. it is my own curse! Some 2011 photos and videos have been posted already, but they are not listed on the photos page... you'll find them currently down on the home page.
The videos are my new thing though, and I thank those who have commented to me, for the nice compliments. The videos can definitely bring you back to the "feel" of the show with sound and video, unlike the photos. But I can only capture the moments I see, when I get a chance to walk around the shows a bit. If you see me walking by holding out a small Canon pocket camera.. then I'm shooting live video. I try to do a brief initial walk by to capture all the cars, and some of the folks along the way. I have to do quite a bit of editing later to keep the videos from running too long too. If you see something at a show that I should record.. be sure to come find me! It's not about me... it's all about you and the shows!
Time just never stops ticking however... no matter how busy we are! I miss driving my '71 Cutlass convertible which has been sitting for a couple years now waiting for me to afford and find time to put a freshened up motor back in... meanwhile the "new to us" motorcycle calls out to me and DJ Dee to do some riding when we get a chance! My full-time day job in networking and communications is getting very busy too, which is where I often catch up on my website if I get a chance. Lets not forget the computer repair projects I do for my friends too which can take some time... and the house chores that need done as well. I'm the plumber, yard guy, electrician, and roofer too! If our personal vehicles need work.. I'm the mechanic. I work on everything, even down to rebuilding engines and transmissions too! I wear a lot of different hats! And my spare time weekends are full doing car shows! It's not easy! But don't get me wrong... I'm happy to be busy... it is what I do! Diane is looking for a day job... but also does the occasional weekend car show as DJ Dee! She is currently doing volunteer work at Calvary Chapel's Thrift Store, and the library, and helps where she can. DJ Dee will be spinning tunes this weekend too while I'm off doing a city event for Southwest Ranches. As I said.. I'm happy (and we are fortunate) to be busy.
It's ALL good though.. as they say! Despite the struggles.. we feel blessed! We live in a GREAT country and enjoy our wonderful freedoms. Easter is coming up too, and a chance to rejoice in what really matters!

I have temporarily moved the newest 2011 videos to another host, which seems to be working for now. If you have fast broadband service and experience interrupted videos, be aware I am working on the problem. The Pompano Elks, Margate Show, Hot Rod Band, and Blues Brothers videos have been relocated, and should load faster now. If not, let me know. WEEKEND EVENTS UPDATE! by: DJ Scott
Jan 30, 2011: Well... it was a beautiful weather weekend in South Florida for car shows!
Saturday: DJ Dee & I were both free, so we hopped on the bike and rode up to Keith's Dania Jai Alai car show, and the Vintage motorcycle show across the street at Frost Park. The bike show must have been 3 times the show it was last year... with huge droves of spectators, food, vendors, live bands, custom and vintage bikes, tons of spectator bikes lining the blocked off streets, and more! The crowd spilled over into the car show.. making for a great day for everyone!
The Annual TMS Autosports Show was also going on Saturday in Coconut Creek with Rockin Rich, and judging from the photos looks like a good show! We intended to visit as well, but just didn't get out of the Dania show as soon as we had expected. We cruised up A1A from Dania along Ft. Lauderdale beach... which was jam packed solid. The snowbirds were definitely out in force everywhere! It was a gorgeous day... and enjoyed by ALL!
Sunday: Another beautiful day in South Florida! DJ Dee and I found ourselves doing shows in opposite counties... Diane in Palm Beach at the Cars As Art On The Avenue Show in Delray, and me in Dade at the Tropical Park 4th Annual show! Both shows did very well.. the new Delray show with over 90 cars (benefitting The Veteran's Support Organization), and Tropical Park with over 170+ cars (benefiting Ovarian Caner Research) ..brought to you by Classic T-Bird Club of South Florida. Some also enjoyed themselves at the Chili Cookoff event in Broward! It was a nice weekend all around!
We have no shows this upcoming weekend... personally we'll get caught up on some house chores, do a little motorcycle riding too, and finally entertain a couple friends watching the Superbowl on the H.D BIG screen with added HD BIG sound... half-time ALWAYS ROCKS in our house! (as you would probably guess...lol). Diane is celebrating her birthday this week too, and the following weekend we celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary on Valentines Day. Enough about us!
There is NO cruise at Tijuana Taxi this Superbowl Sunday either... Tijuana Taxi cruise night resumes Feb 13.
I spoke with Russ a short time ago... and after a week in the hospital with bronchitis and pneumonia, he got out Saturday, and sounded MUCH better! Wishing Russ a speedy recovery... we've got a lot of work to do as we move along into car show season!

MY 57 CHEVY ON BOOK COVER! by: Jim Bauer
Was looking at the the latest car books from Krause Publications and was amazed to see a picture of my '57 Chevy on the cover of a new book "Just 50's" (Memorable Machines fro America's Favorite Decade"
The picture was taken in my driveway in Weston. Old Cars Weekly had published an article about my '57 with pictures back in '09 so I assume that is where the picture came from.

Jan 10, 2011: Well... 2011 is off to a wonderful and incredible start!
Sun, Jan 2: We had our 1st show of the new year... the "Broward Mall 2nd Annual Benefit Show! It was an excellent show with very nice weather and a nice turnout of about 120+ cars. This show also drew a nice crowd of spectators, and featured "Lu White" performing live. An excellent job by Russ G Events, the Plantation Kiwanis, and all the volunteers!
Jan 2, 2011, Sunday Night: Tijuana Taxi broke another record with 100+ cars! This cruise night continues to be Broward County's most popular cruise night.. with Rockin Rich playing the tunes... Bob and Arlyne managing the parking! The food is always good, the beer is always cold, and fun and laughter can always be experienced throughout the evening! Nice job by all!
Friday Nights: Towershoppes is finally back after the holidays... off and running strong as always! A very nice commemorative yearly parking pass can be purchased at a nice discount, S100 for the year... which comes to about only $2 a cruise night. Show your support for South Florida's favorite, MOST popular, and longest running cruise night! Brought to you by "The Florida Street Rods".
Jan 8 Saturday: I went by the Dave Rupp Auto Auction in Ft Lauderdale... it was packed with cars and people!
Jan 8 Saturday Night: it was another INCREDIBLE night under the lights at Sheehan Autoplex for the "Darrell Gwynn 11th Annual Full Throttle Show of Shows!" And what a GREAT night it was!! The show features race cars and drivers, as well as South Florida's finest classic cars! The motors were revved up... and the horsepower was heard and felt throughout the show! Darrel Gwynn was on hand for the Darrell Gwynn Foundation, which does wonderful things for the handicapped. We were also treated to an excellent show by "Lu White and The Hot Rod Band". Music, race cars and spectators dominated the evening! The cars sparkled under the lights... and a fun time was had by all! Thanks go to Tom Sheehan of Sheehan Autoplex for an awesome show venue... The Time Bandits and volunteers, as well at Eugene Reidy who's love and dedication puts it all together!
Sunday, Jan 9: We had an ABSOLUTELY PERFECT day for a show!
It was the "Ed Morse Sawgrass 5th Annual Car Show" in Sunrise. The weather was ideal.. with warm temperatures and sunny clear blue skies! About 214+ cars PACKED the lot full everywhere!!! There was plenty to see and do... with music and fun in the air everywhere! There were cars, vendors, music, BBQ, giveaways and more! The Renegade Corvette Club always come up with an impressive table full of giveaways! Over 70 items, a 50/50 of over $1400, as well as Panther Cruises and event tickets, auto performance goodies, and a nice 3 day 2 night stay for two at Holiday Isle in the Keys! Congrats to all the winners of the prizes and trophies. We were also treated by appearances by "The Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders" and "The Florida Panther Ice Dancers" who autographed posters and posed for photos with the cars and the folks. It was a PERFECT DAY!! I received some nice compliments on the music too.. thanks! Thanks to Ed Morse Sawgrass, The Renegade Corvette Club, and Jumpin Jack Production for an incredible event!

Pompano Citi Centre Open Car Show this Sunday! I'd say Russ is definitely BACK... all 3 of this weekend's shows by Russ G Events! Both Saturday and Sunday's shows will feature live entertainment... Sunday's show at the CitiCentre will feature the popular... "Lu White and The Hot Rod Band"... who puts on a GREAT show! Looking forward to another fun weekend!
The 2011 Car Show Season: is off and running strong in South Florida... and on it's way to another GREAT year! If I left anything or anyone out, I apologize... there is just so much going on! I am far behind on photos and videos (as usual).. it's hard to keep up! I work a full time day job, and keep very busy on the weekends too. If I find any free time... I'm usually catching up on personal projects, doing computer repairs, car repairs and maintenance, website work, or working around the house. I find a need for family time and a need to relax once in a while too... and want to take the new motorcycle out for a ride once in a while too... or maybe if I get a chance... get my Cutlass Convertible back on the road! There is just NOT enough time! On a separate side note: I will be offering for the very first time, a rare and valuable business opportunity for a website sponsor involving my classic car... I'll post details soon. I will knock out a bunch of show photos and videos soon though... I promise!

Dec 5, 2011: What can I say... The Festival 6th Annual Holiday Mega Show was TOTALLY AWESOME again as always! INCREDIBLE! OFF THE CHARTS! This show has everything! Incredible show vehicles, live entertainment, food, and thousands of spectators! This truly is the SHOW OF SHOWS!! Weather was PERFECT... and so was the day!

Comments: Happy Fathers Day! The Jumpin Jack show at Petersons Harley was another huge success by all. A very nice turnout of cars/trucks & bikes was special to say the least. The foot traffic and vendors made for some interesting viewing. The weather cooperated until the end of the show, and then the skies opened up. Oh well, that is what keeps us happy, washing and waxing our rides. Scott the DJ played some new stuff today, enjoyable and well thought out by him. The trophies are beautiful, "keepers" as they say. Say a prayer for our servicemen and women that would have loved to be at the show today, but are protecting us here at home and around the world. Thank You to them. Jan 8 Saturday Night: it was another INCREDIBLE night under the lights at Sheehan Autoplex for the "Darrell Gwynn 11th Annual Full Throttle Show of Shows!" And what a GREAT night it was!! The show features race cars and drivers, as well as South Florida's finest classic cars! The motors were revved up... and the horsepower was heard and felt throughout the show! Darrel Gwynn was on hand for the Darrell Gwynn Foundation, which does wonderful things for the handicapped. We were also treated to an excellent show by "Lu White and The Hot Rod Band". Music, race cars and spectators dominated the evening! The cars sparkled under the lights... and a fun time was had by all! Thanks go to Tom Sheehan of Sheehan Autoplex for an awesome show venue... The Time Bandits and volunteers, as well at Eugene Reidy who's love and dedication puts it all together!
It was the "Ed Morse Sawgrass 5th Annual Car Show" in Sunrise. The weather was ideal.. with warm temperatures and sunny clear blue skies! About 214+ cars PACKED the lot full everywhere!!! There was plenty to see and do... with music and fun in the air everywhere! There were cars, vendors, music, BBQ, giveaways and more! The Renegade Corvette Club always come up with an impressive table full of giveaways! Over 70 items, a 50/50 of over $1400, as well as Panther Cruises and event tickets, auto performance goodies, and a nice 3 day 2 night stay for two at Holiday Isle in the Keys! Congrats to all the winners of the prizes and trophies. We were also treated by appearances by "The Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders" and "The Florida Panther Ice Dancers" who autographed posters and posed for photos with the cars and the folks. It was a PERFECT DAY!! I received some nice compliments on the music too.. thanks! Thanks to Ed Morse Sawgrass, The Renegade Corvette Club, and Jumpin Jack Production for an incredible event!
