WHAT HAPPENED TO "CRABBY JACKS DEERFIELD" SHOW?

ARTICLE BY 'ROCKIN' RICH"..."When I pulled into Crabby Jacks to host our Sunday night cruise-in which has been in Deerfield Beach for eight years, I could tell something was wrong. Arlin Shure who is a volunteer helper on the event told me that we were "cancelled". For a moment, I felt like a supporting character on the lowest rated UPN Network show! For quite some time, we have felt the wrath from a complaining neighbor in the plaza. Not a bunch of people mind you, just basically one person. There were complaints about using the "common parking" in the plaza, or not letting a potential customer/employee drive through the squared off area of classic cars when a "drive around" amounted to a twenty yard drive, and a turn of the steering wheel. We felt that asking people to kindly drive around the car show protected the spectators, families, children, and customers WE were bringing to the plaza. No one hardly seemed to mind, and most were coming to our event anyway and were happy to oblige. I was amazed there could be a complaint regarding safety, and never thought anyone in business would criticize a successful event that brought revenue, celebrities and even an occasional Deerfield Beach political figure out to enjoy some nostalgia. Actually, we never received any complaints regarding car show people dressed in hot rod shirts and hats offering business to our neighbor. The eatery that may have offered something different than our hosts at Crabby's had on their menu. Strange indeed! The complaints went beyond the norm, they went out of state. When it was apparent that the site that had raised funds for childrens charities, toys for the U.S. Marine "Toys for Tots" program, money for injured car show fans, dollars for local animal foundations was not going to prevail due to legal mumbo-jumbo that would have never been enforced had it not been for complaining, a decision had to be made. I am proud of the way Crabby Jacks tried to save our show in Deerfield Beach. Like I mentioned, this has been going on for some time, and why trouble all the people who were out to enjoy their Sunday night. Crabby's loves our program and your cars so much, they want us to carry on the tradition at their Boca Raton location. A spot that is probably another twelve minutes up the road. I hope you will consider joining me there"....
